Cleaning Women

I bought a new vacuum yesterday. We needed it. We really needed it. I thought we had a pretty clean home. It was a blue collar, rancher that was built in the 50s. It is quote cute and we will make it even nicer as the years go one but for some reason it has seemed that no matter how hard I cleaned it just wasn’t getting clean. I used the oxy clean stuff for the carpets and everything. Well Saturday, I was vacuuming and realized that the vacuum wasn’t sucking anything. I mean nothing at all. I was so mad, I bought a new one yesterday. Now, I don’t get paid to advertise or this but I do love it. It is a Bissell Turbo Pro (or something like that…) All I know is it sucks! I mean that in a good way. We brought it home and I didn’t want to stop cleaning the carpet. I wanted to powder and spray and clean and everything! I am a very happy camper. Of course, thinking about cleaning reminds me of the great song “Cleaning Women” from the musical “Working”….So enjoy.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow is going to be a new day for me. I am going to do something I have wanted to do for a while. I am going to lose weight. It is time for me to do this. I did it for about three months a year ago and it worked out well, but I don’t think I was ready for the change. Like a drug addict, you have to be really ready. You have to want it and you have to want to put the effort into it.

October 1st, 2011 will be the day I take back my weight and change my eating habits. I have been thinking about it (and talking about it) for a while now. I have decided to go with Weight Watchers as it seems to be the best program and one that will be (in my opinion) easy to follow. My mother and my sister both used WW and they both did well.

I was debating when to start but the signs starting popping up all over the place. My shirts started to not fit, I got really tired and well I got fat but the kicker was when I said “I may need to lose weight” and then I said “well I should eat all the food out of the fridge first so we don’t waste it.”  The NEXT day the fridge died (of course it was 20 years old so that didn’t hurt either I am sure) and I lost all the crappy food anyway.

So tomorrow it is. Wish me luck.

Overture

o·ver·ture

noun /ˈōvərCHər/  /-ˌCHo͝or/
overtures, plural

  • An introduction to something more substantial
    • - the talks were no more than an overture to a long debate
  • An approach or proposal made to someone with the aim of opening negotiations or establishing a relationship
    • - Coleen listened to his overtures of love
  • An orchestral piece at the beginning of an opera, suite, play, oratorio, or other extended composition
  • An independent orchestral composition in one movement

Most musical have wonderful overtures. One of my favorite ones is from “Candide” by Leonard Bernstein.  It has a wonderfully upbeat and full of life melody.  It is one of those that is very unique and makes you feel like you are in for something wonderful when you sit in the theater before the show starts. This is my Overture.

Most people who know me,  know that I have a song for everything.  You name it, I probably know of a song that can be song (or a line from a show) that goes with the word or phrase or situation at hand. If I cannot think of one, well then I will just make it up. Of course, if I make it up it ends up being cute and or funny and then usually turns dirty. I don’t know why but it does. Must be my DNA.

I am writing this blog “My Life is a Showtune” because….well I think I have a lot to say. I have had many adventures and hopefully will have interesting things to say.

My adventures are many and I have a lot of songs to sing.
